Five new Kinetic-owned electric buses have today begun services on the Sunshine Coast.
The new buses will run Translink services across the coastal city and are each expected to save as much as 1,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases over their lifespan and reduce noise pollution.
The State Government has made a commitment that every new bus in South East Queensland will be zero emission from 2025, with regional implementation to begin between 2025 and 2030.
Further steps towards that target will also be taken when Kinetic launches 15 additional electric buses on the Gold Coast (10) and in Cairns (five) in the coming weeks.
Translink delivery partners Logan Coaches and Transdev have also been operating electric buses in South East Queensland since April 2021.
