The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has today released the final Creating Better Connections for Queenslanders plan after considering more than 40 submissions from a range of stakeholders.
Stakeholders included local councils, industry representatives, service delivery partners, public transport advocates, businesses and members of the public.
Head of Translink Sally Stannard said Creating Better Connections for Queenslanders highlighted an exciting vision for the future of passenger transport across Queensland in five priority areas and through 20 signature initiatives. The five priority areas are:
- Reliable and safe services;
- Responsive to changing community needs;
- Seamless end to end journeys;
- Easy and accessible; and
- Environmentally sustainable.
"I would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide feedback on the draft plan. There were a number of stakeholders who provided detailed feedback," Ms Stannard said.
"The feedback on the draft plan was largely supportive, with the main updates in the final plan relating to highlighting the importance of accessibility across all priority areas, updating information, and showcasing key passenger transport initiatives underway.
"The plan has also been informed by extensive customer research and insights on what matters most to them when using passenger transport, the current pain points for customers, and potential solutions.
"We also received valuable input from stakeholders about how initiatives could be best put into action and we'll work closely with everyone about how we'll implement suggestions moving forward.
"It's an exciting time for passenger transport with the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon and this plan will guide us to help ensure South East Queensland has a world-class transport system when arguably the biggest sporting event in the world comes to the south east. It will also help us to deliver our priorities state-wide."
