Daniel is one of our new recruits, working as a Graduate Solution Design Officer in the Passenger Transport Strategy & Technology team.
As a graduate in Information Technology, Daniel brings his digital expertise to his role to improve the customer experience.
Why did you decide to apply for the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Graduate Program and Translink in particular?
TMR is such a diverse organisation with plenty of opportunities and I wanted to get exposure to the public sector early in my career.
I was eager to use my IT degree and to work in Translink because they work with TMR on new technologies.
I really enjoy being part of these new projects, as I learn so much and as a graduate, it's great to be part of a project's development and life cycle.
What types of projects do you work on?
I'm part of the Digital Licence project, which moves us towards utilising today's digital capacity.
For example, people will be able to utilise a mobile driver's licence app, which complies to global standards and can be used as an internationally accepted proof of identity.
No other states have released an app that meets this global standard, so it's very exciting for us.
What do you think public transport will look like in 2030, and what role do you think Translink will have?
I would like to see public transport be a fully integrated network with both public and private ways of getting around. I would like to see the network provide live updates of location and timeframes of public transport for Queenslanders and tourists.
Translink will continue to work on cutting-edge new technology projects to keep up with today's digital capability and provide communities with relevant services and technologies.
